the lost city of z (2017)
Gray's Lost City of Z lacks, not only intent, but focus and weight. Unable to ground itself, the film quickly spits out its rambling story, yet runs on into oblivion, playing like a pastiche of text book film tropes, throwaway lines meant to constitute character and blatantly shouted thematic nonsense.
